Half-Life Data

Half-life (t½) data for Tert-Butyl hydroperoxide measured in chlorobenzene:

Half-Life (t½)Temperature
0.1 hr228°C (442°F)
1 hr190°C (374°F)
10 hr153°C (307°F)

Kinetic formulas:
kd = A·e−Ea/RT | t½ = (ln2) / kd
Ea = 174.05 kJ/mole | A = 1.12E+17 s⁻¹ | R = 8.3142 J/mole·K | T = (273.15+°C) K

Thermal Stability

Organic peroxides are thermally unstable substances which may undergo self-accelerating decomposition. The Self Accelerating Decomposition Temperature (SADT) is the lowest temperature at which self-accelerating decomposition may occur.
